Why Should You Trust Your Dog With Me?

Here's How I Got Into Dog Training & Why I Love It!

I have enjoyed the extraordinary companionship of dogs my entire life so it’s not surprising I’ve chosen to work with them on a daily basis. My career with dogs began at a local veterinary hospital where I was a receptionist. While working there I became curios about how to help dogs and their human guardians truly enjoy all the areas of life they share. The experience of teaching my own young dogs and the remarkable relationship this built, sparked a passion for training which motivated me to learn to do this professionally. Now I’m helping other people develop this same connection with their own canine companions and creating well-mannered dogs at the same time.

History & Experience

I began to learn more about dog behavior and training in 2009, by reading all the latest science-based research I could find and by enrolling in a dog training course through Raising Canine, owned and operated by Susan Smith, CDBC, CPDT-KA.

This course required me to find a mentor or internship program which led me to The Dog Door in Asheville. Through these avenues I was introduced to several seminars and conferences and soon my knowledge, experience, and confidence grew. I earned my national certification in professional dog training through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) in 2013. I continued to work as a trainer at The Dog Door until the time came for me to start my own training and behavior business.
